Wendy Margaret (Stanfield) Litke went to glory Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Hamilton, Ontario shortly after her 80th birthday. She was born on August 25, 1945 to Ronald & Margaret (Friesen) Stanfield in Chilliwack, BC. She grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
In 1971 she married Irvine Litke, the love of her life. She let everyone know that because she wanted to be an example of a good marriage to young people around her. Wendy worked with children in different capacities in many communities. She was known as Aunt Wendy, Buttercup, and briefly as Professor Fizz. Her favourite activity was storytelling.
She also was a volunteer visitor for palliative care at a hospital and led Bible studies in homes, including a nursing home. She played piano & organ for many church services, and was still playing piano earlier this year.
Wendy is mourned by her husband of 54 years Irvine, children Lana and Richard, sisters Kathleen, Bonny, and Jane, in-laws, nephews, nieces, and their families. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother Robert.
At Wendy’s request, cremation has taken place. A service will be held on Friday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Elliott Heights Baptist Church, 1300 Fennell Ave E, and also livestreamed by the church.
