With hearts full of love and gratitude, we remember the life of Virginia Grace MacAulay (née Merryman), who passed away in Hamilton, Ontario, on August 3, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born on February 6, 1933, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Virginia was a pillar of strength, warmth, and gentleness to everyone who knew her. .

Virginia’s life was marked by deep devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She shared many cherished years of marriage with her beloved husband, James MacAulay, whose memory she carried in her heart since his passing. 

Her daughters, Mona Koziski and Joanne MacAulay, Sons in Law Robert Cable and Steve Koziski mourn her loss while holding close the lessons of compassion and perseverance she instilled within them. . Virginia was also a devoted grandmother to Alex Koziski and Jen Koziski, 

Virginia’s life was touched by loss too. She is now reunited with her dear daughter Laura Djukic, whose memory remained a constant source of love and longing.

An artist with her hands and heart, Virginia took great joy in knitting, crocheting, sewing, and reading.  The beauty of her handmade gifts, and the worlds she visited within the pages of her favorite books were a testament to her creative spirit and thoughtful soul. In these simple pleasures, she found comfort and a way to share her affection.

Virginia’s legacy is one of warmth, love, and enduring strength which she instilled in her daughters. Memories of her patience, gentleness, and quiet humour will be carried forward by all who knew her, continuing to inspire and comfort generations to come.

As we bid farewell, we celebrate the extraordinary life of our dear mother, grandmother, and friend. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit and kindness live on in the hearts of those she touched.

We would like to thank the wonderful, caring and devoted caregivers, medical staff and other staff at Wentworth Heights (Emma's and Williamsburg neighbourhoods) for the loving care she received.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family interment.
