Vera Louise Williams was born on July 16, 1925, in Grand Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador, the only child of Maud and Ebenezer Peyton. She was raised in Deer Lake, NL, and passed away peacefully in Hamilton, Ontario, on March 24, 2026. Vera celebrated her 100th birthday last year, surrounded by family and friends. 

Vera was well known for her zest for life, generous spirit, and deep commitment to her church and community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate. In her younger years, Vera delighted in performing in musical theatre productions and carried her love of music throughout her life, continuing to sing joyfully in choirs well into her later years. She also found simple yet profound joy in spotting cardinals whenever she was outdoors. 

Vera was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; her sons, John and Paul; her daughter, Maeryn; her daughter-in-law, Kay; and her cherished granddaughter, Jillian.

 She will be lovingly remembered by her son Mike (Gwen); her daughters Cami and Yvonne (Gord); her daughter-in-law Margaret (known as Muffin to family/friends); and her thirteen grandchildren: Erin(Adam), Jessica (Patrick), Gillian (Darren), Marty (Honora), Michael (Luc), Jaimie (Jacob), Connie, Cory, Kristi (Josh), Keri (Billy), Shani (Rob), and Raven (Alex). She will also be fondly remembered by others who held a special place in her heart, especially her best friend Noreen, with whom she spent so much quality time. Vera leaves behind seventeen treasured great-grandchildren.

 A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
