Listen to Obituary

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Tyler Michael Cookney, at the age of 30.

Tyler was a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend whose life, though far too short, leaves behind a lifetime of memories for those who knew and loved him.

From a young age, Tyler was known for his adventurous spirit and determination. Affectionately nicknamed “Crash and Burn” as a child, he could often be found riding his bike, rollerblading, or racing around on his Big Wheel. No matter how many times he fell, he always got back up and kept going. His childhood was filled with long days playing outside, making memories, and staying out until the streetlights came on.

As he grew older, Tyler developed a love for video games and computers. He had a naturally sharp mind, particularly when it came to math, and dreamed of one day pursuing a career in computer programming or video game design. He most recently hoped to enter the medical field and be able to help others.

Tyler had a unique sense of humour, often expressed through his quick wit, sarcasm, and unmistakable smirk. Those who knew him will forever remember his smile and his laugh. Beneath his playful humour was a sweet and caring person who loved his family, had a special place in his heart for animals, and was remembered by many as a good friend.

Anyone who knew Tyler knew just how much he adored his Grand Marquis. Passed down through the family, it was more than just a car to him. It held a special place in his heart, and no matter how much time passed, he was determined he would never part with it.

Tyler will be forever loved and deeply missed by his mother, Anna (Sean); father, Chris (Jen); sister, Sarah (Mark); and his cherished nieces, Mia and Abbey. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandparents, Walter (Wally), Debra, and Jurgen, along with his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tyler was predeceased by his beloved Nana, and Uncle Jay, both of whom he loved and missed dearly.

Though Tyler’s time with us was far too short, the memories of his laughter, his mischievous smile, and the boy who always got back up will remain in our hearts forever.

Rest peacefully, Ty. You were loved more than words can ever express, and you will be missed beyond measure.
