Teresa “Terrie” Sangster (Stokes) passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 16, 2026. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, as a proud and adoring mother, as a compassionate nurse and as a friend whose generosity and warmth touched the lives of others.

Terrie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Andy, and by her sons Andrew and Robert. She is predeceased by her loving mother Donna Stokes (Milligan), her loving father Robert Stokes, her loving mother-in-law Margaret Sangster and by her adored sister Maureen Salvisburg. Their memories remained part of her life and will be held alongside hers by those who knew and loved her.

Terrie was a graduate of George Brown College and went on to build a long and meaningful career as a registered nurse with Hamilton Health Sciences, where she served for 30 years. During her years in nursing, she worked at both the General Hospital and Juravinski Hospital, offering care, compassion, and steady dedication to the patients under her care. Her professional life reflected the same kindness and commitment that shaped every part of who she was.

Outside of her work, Terrie found happiness in the things she loved most. She was an animal lover throughout her life and made sure that every family pet was a rescued animal, a reflection of her caring heart. She especially enjoyed the companionship of her cat (Kitty) and her dog (Coco). Terrie loved rock music and enjoyed sharing found memories of the concerts that she attended. She also had a love for classic movies. Terrie had an interest in vintage clothing and antiques. These hobbies brought her pleasure and expressed her vibrant personality. Christmas was her favourite time of year, treasured as a special time to gather with family and friends. She was a generous and kind person who found true joy in gift giving and making others feel remembered and loved.

Teresa “Terrie” Sangster will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her compassion, her generosity, and the comfort she brought to others in both her work and her home. Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all whose lives she touched.

Visitation will take place at ABC Funeral Home, 205 Nebo Rd, Hamilton, on Thursday September 24th from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 305 East 37th St, Hamilton, on Friday September 25th at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
