Teresa Margaret Oskroba

March 30, 1933 — March 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Theresa Margaret Oskroba, on March 13, 2025, at the age of 91, in Hamilton, Ontario. Theresa was born on March 30, 1933, in Guelph, Ontario, to Antonio and Maria Vittoria (née Alviano) DeVincentis. She was always deeply proud of her Italian heritage.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Walter, whom she missed profoundly. She also cherished the memories of her siblings Anne, Stella, Josephine, Sam, and Angelo. Theresa is lovingly remembered by her son, Michael; daughter, Victoria (Donald); and grandchildren John Paul, Jacob, David, and Madeline.

Theresa was raised in Hamilton, where she met and married Walter, raised her children, and worked tirelessly to create a loving and comfortable home for her family. One of her greatest joys was relaxing at the end of the day in the family room, in front of Walt’s fireplace.

Throughout the seventies and eighties, Theresa worked part-time at Robinson's Department Store at Eastgate Mall, where she sold ladies' coats and clothing. A talented salesperson, she had a remarkable ability to sell fur coats even in August, and she built lasting relationships with many repeat customers who valued her honest advice. After retiring from her retail career, she devoted her time to volunteering at St. Joseph's Community Health Centre in the geriatric program, where she used her musical talents and was honoured with a long-service award.

A self-taught and passionate baker, Theresa truly thrived in the kitchen, often rolling out pastry for an apple pie or preparing a batch of her beloved, light-as-air “Angel’s Wings,” which she would gladly share with neighbours and friends. She enjoyed collecting and experimenting with new recipes and had an uncanny ability to identify the ingredients in any dish that she did not have a hand in preparing. As she liked to say, “the best cooking comes from my own kitchen”.

Theresa also had a life-long passion for singing and was a member of both the Lorelei Singers of Ontario and St. Eugene’s Parish choir.

Cremation has taken place.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 28 at 11 o'clock at St. Eugene’s Church, 232 Queenston Road, Hamilton, Ontario.
