Sylvia Hamilton

March 6, 1945 — January 4, 2024

Hamilton, Sylvia (Shaw)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Sylvia Hamilton announce her sudden passing on

Thursday January 4th, 2024 in her 79th year. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Sylvia will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her children Karen (Billy), Sheri (Norm),

Jennifer (Craig) & Jackie (Glenn). Sylvia was an amazing and loving Nanny to Brooke (Jordan),

Hunter, Tommy (Jess), Dillon, Alexis (Kyle); Great Nanny to Emma, Lincoln, Kaycee and Karter,

her dog Genna; and numerous other family members and friends, especially the ladies in the

D.Y.O.T. Club.

Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Ronald, her parents George and Gladys and brother

Thomas.

Sylvia was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and immigrated to Hamilton during her early teens.

Sylvia met the love of her life and married Ron in 1964. Sylvia worked at Tuckett Tobacco

Company, Firestone Tire Manufacturing and later at The Hamilton General Hospital.

Sylvia’s greatest and most valuable accomplishment was being a Wife, Mother, Nanny and

Great Nanny. Nothing meant more to Sylvia than her family. She only ever wanted her

children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to be happy, healthy, and financially secure.

A special thank you, to the caring staff at Dunnville War Memorial Hospital and the staff in the

ICU at Welland Hospital.

At Sylvia’s request, cremation has already taken place and there will be no funeral. There will

be a Celebration of Sylvia’s Life on Sunday January 21st at the Royal Canadian Legion, Cayuga

Branch #159 (22 Talbot St. Cayuga), at 1 – 4 p.m. in lieu of flowers donations to The Canadian

Lung Association or Hillside Kennels Animal Control.

Arrangements entrusted to Affordable Burial & Cremation, Hamilton
