It is with deep love and heart break that we announce the passing of Susan Marie White (nee Patzalek) who left those she loved on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at the age of 70, following a brief illness.

Sue grew up on Jerseyville Road in Ancaster, Ontario and attended St. Ann's, Father Loftus, and Ancaster High Schools, where she enjoyed sports and had a loyal group of friends.

Through her professional experiences, including as a consultant with a cosmetics company, working in her father's dental practice, and support and managerial positions with the March of Dimes, Sue always encouraged those around her to be the best that they could be. This was particularly true in the way she raised her two sons, Glenn and Matthew.

Glenn and Matthew were Sue's world, until she opened her heart to the love of her life, John Elvin. Her joyful world continued to grow when Matthew and his wife Sarah brought her first three grandchildren into Sue's world: Avery, Bryce and Camryn. Then Glenn and his wife Rachel rounded it all out with her fourth grandchild, Riley. Her world was now complete, and she was the happiest she had ever been. She was a loving partner, a mother, a grammie, a sister, and a friend. She excelled at all of them. Thank you to the care team at the Cardio and Vascular Intensive Care Unit at the Hamilton General Hospital and her surgeon Dr. Adel Dyub for giving Sue's family extra time to tell her how much she was loved.

Sue is also survived by her brother Glen Patzalek, his partner Elizabeth Thomas, her sister Eleanor Masecar, Eleanor's husband John, and John Elvin's daughter Kayla Elvin.

As per her wishes, a private cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Along with her sous chef John, Sue loved preparing amazing feasts. Thus, donations to a community food bank or any program that feeds the hungry would be appreciated.

"Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,

just round the corner.

All is well."
