Shirlyne Violet “Shirly” FerrisFebruary 16, 1950 – April 6, 2026

With hearts full of both gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of Shirlyne “Shirly” Ferris. Shirlyne, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Shirlyne was born on February 16, 1950, in Orangeville, Ontario.

Known for her social and vibrant personality, Shirly enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She loved being outdoors, often with a Tim Hortons double-double in hand, and never passed up a good game of cards or dice with those she loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Alex “Al”) Lehr; her grandchildren, Alexander Lehr, Ashley David, Sandra David, Sherlyne (John) Lucas, Justin David, and Robert David; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Alice and Daniel. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and best friend, Barbara Pyle, as well as her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cherished friends.

She was predeceased by her sons, Adam David and Mark David; her parents, Allen and Vera Tripp; and her brother, Robert “Bobby” Deforest.

At Shirlyne’s request, a celebration of life will be held in lieu of a funeral service. Details will be announced at a later date.
