Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Shirley passed away on Monday December 23rd, 2024 at St. Josephs Hospital in Hamilton, ON at the age of 84 years.

Predeceased by her husband Douglas Dolan. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Donna Jones, Chuck (Dana) Dolan, Keith (Sharon) Dolan, Robert Dolan, Tracy Young; as well as her 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings Donald (Linda) Gibson, Mary Cooper, Betty Legacy, an Maurice/Moe Gibson. Predeceased by her siblings Robert (Deloris) Gibson, Norman Gibson, Lillian (John) Ward; sister-in-law Karin Gibson, brother-in-law John Cooper, and son-in-law John Young. She will also be missed by her baby dog Snow.

Shirley was born on August 20th 1940 in Hamilton, ON to her parents Matthew Gibson and Claira Bell Gibson and was a large help in raising her siblings growing up. She ran away to be with Douglas Dolan in Welland, ON, her parents hired a detective to find her, she did not return until her wedding day in 1960. She had her first child in June of 1964, then continued to have 4 more children. She first became a grandmother in March of 1986, and a great-grandmother in March of 2016. Shirley’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

A hour long Memorial Service will be held at Marquis Garden (1050 Rymal Rd E, Hamilton, ON, L8W 3N6) on January 2nd at 11am. After the service the processional will head down to Woodland cemetery for graveside service.
