Shirley Elizabeth Fratoni (nee Boyce) Obituary
Shirley Fratoni, affectionately known as Shirl the Pearl and the The River Queen, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025, peacefully at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas, Ont. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Born to Joe and Viola Boyce in Stoney Creek, Shirley was the oldest daughter in a family of eight children. She is survived by her siblings, Judeen (Gerry), Terry (Dave) and Wendy (Don) and was predeceased by her sisters, Joanne and Brenda; as well as her brothers, Gary and Daly. Shirley was a proud and devoted mother to her sons, Adrian (Florence) and Joel (Shari); and her daughter, Danette (Mike). She found immense joy as a grandmother, lovingly nurturing her grandchildren Tanner, Jesse, Jarrett and Rory. The bonds she created with her family were the cornerstone of her life. Her greatest pleasure came from the time spent together, whether in the family pool, on the banks of the Grand River, the shore of Lake Erie or gathered around the dinner table sharing cherished family stories. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wentworth Lodge for the exceptional care and love they provided Shirley during her time there. She truly enjoyed her last few years surrounded by kindness and compassion. A private family service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life. In the words of our Mom, "The old grey mare ain't what she used to be".
