Salvatore Macri

January 30, 1958 — December 27, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our Husband, Father, Grandfather ‘Nonno’ and

friend Salvatore ‘Sam’ Macri.

Born in the beautiful south of Italy, in Serra San Bruno, Calabria to his adoring parents Carmelo Macri

and Giovanna Macri (née Tuccalaro)

He leaves his devoted wife Franca ‘Carla’ Macri (née Luconi), His loving children Carmelo (Laura) and

Italo (Marissa).

He leaves behind his sweet Grandchildren Olivia, Nicholas and Adriana who brought true meaning and

joy to his life.

Sam was the fourth of five children.

He will be sadly missed by his loving sister Marguerita ‘Rita’, Niece Giovanna (Pino), Great-Niece Isabella

and Great-Nephew Edward ‘Eddy’.

He will be dearly missed by his family; Judy-Anne and the late Andrew Watson (who he will join),

Catherine and Michael Daly, Sarah and Jacob Polowin. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and

cousins in Canada and Italy, including Zia Carla Luconi.

Sam was a precocious child who was often found scheming and finding creative ways to earn money. He

was a bright blue-eyed, baby-faced boy.

Sam was an entrepreneur, who was savvy and quick witted. Along with partners, he created a successful

group of Pool Halls, known as FORMAC and Burlington Billiards. In his career he also operated a

streetcar for the TTC and was a scheduling manager at Pearson Airport’s in-flight hospitality services

distribution.

Sam was a skilled cook, he loved to cook with his parents and prepare family recipes, enough for an

army, to share with friends and family.

He loved to keep his Italian heritage in his traditions and enjoyed speaking in his mother tongue.

He met his love and best friend Carla at 17, they were married for 44 years of love and devotion to each

other. They shared the joy of raising their two sons and went on to have the honour and delight of

grandparenthood together.

He was a natural storyteller, who enjoyed reminiscing especially around a table full of homemade food,

red wine and loved ones.

He had an infectious laugh and was hardly ever too serious. He had a love and tenderness for animals;

cats, dogs and horses were a passion. Sam could always be turned to for help or advice.

He was a generous person who would give to anyone and was especially welcoming when meeting new

people. Hobbies that sparked joy for Sam were, golf, billiards and baseball.

He will be remembered fondly sitting next to his Dad ‘Nonno’ sharing a glass of wine and laughing with

family at the table.

According to his wishes, cremation will occur and a celebration of life with his immediate family.
