It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother / grandmother on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 94. Ruth was born on October 29, 1930, in Hamilton and dedicated her life to loving and supporting her husband, Bob of 64 years, her children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, Bob; her parents, John and Vivian DeGrow; her youngest sister, Lois Mitchell; and brothers-in-law, Lorne Mitchell and Jack Shaver. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Harry (Cathy), Jackie (Brian), and Ian (Joanne); proud grandmother to Matthew, Christopher, Abby, Tyler (Hallie), Justin, Samantha, and Connor; and loving greatgrandmother to Kaiden, Jackson, and Emily. She was the beloved sister of Jeanette Shaver. Ruth will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, sharing a laugh, which frequently involved her providing the entertainment. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed cheering on her favourite sports teams — the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Toronto Blue Jays. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the wonderful staff at Highgate Residence in Ancaster for their compassionate care, as well as to the many health care staff from Bayshore who supported Ruth. A short service will be held on October 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the graveside at Blackheath United Church, 2320 Haldibrook Road, Caledonia. In Ruth's memory, donations to a charity or organization of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
