Roy Homer Alton

On Thursday April 6, 2023 Roy Homer Alton of Dunnville, in his 94th year,

slipped peacefully from this world.

Son of Leroy and Eliza Alton, eldest brother to Brent Alton and Gail

McKinnon. Husband of, and lifetime friend to, Joyce (nee Dolan). Father to

Jane (Ed Charnley), Bill (Laurie), Brenda (Brian Hussey), Jill (Terry

Powell), Bob (Lori) and Jim (Lisa). Grandfather and Great Grandfather to

too many amazing people to list. Pre-deceased by his wife Joy and daughter

Jane.

Born in Hamilton, Roy moved to Dunnville when his parents purchased the

farm on Regional Road 17 at a time when it was still a stone road. A parcel

of that farm was severed and this is where Roy and Joy would raise their

family. An avid fisherman and golfer Roy would build that family home with

large picture windows so he could practice his golf swing.

Without any doubt his greatest joy was his wife Joy. Friends since

childhood as their parents cottages were near to each other on Lake Erie.

Through the years, the many adventures and the odd trial these two did it

all together. Dad never stopped missing her.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Grandview Lodge for the care they

provided. very special thank you to Brenda Hussey for her tireless work

as Dad's primary caregiver.

A celebration of life will be held for Roy and Joy on Saturday July 22,

2023 from 1 to 4 pm at the Lifespan Centre of the Dunnville Memorial Arena,

27 Ramsey Drive.
