MacGowan (nee Shea), Rosemary Peacefully at St. Peter’s hospital on Friday January 7, 2022 at the young age of 65, Rose lost her battle with cancer. Rose was the devoted wife of 40 years to Dave MacGowan, loving mother to Jeff (Kelly), Tammy (Derek), Jody (Jason) and cherished Nana to Christine, Alyssa, Emily, Riley and Payton. The family sends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at the City of Hamilton, where Rose worked for 30 years, and to her union brothers and sisters at CUPE Local 5167 for all their love and support during Rose’s illness. Rose was always the first to lend her support or jump in when help was needed, so to have all that love acknowledged and given back to her during this difficult time was amazing. The family also sends immense gratitude and respect to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital, 3rd floor East wing. The care, support and love Rose received during her stay will never be forgotten. Rose was a larger than life personality who left an impression wherever she went. The family takes great comfort in knowing her legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of all who were blessed to know her. A memorial page can be found at https://www.affordableburialandcremation.ca if you wish to share a story or memory of Rose on the tribute wall. As per Rose’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a small celebration of life will be planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rose’s honor to St. Peter’s Hospital (https://www.hamiltonhealth.ca/donate) or to the Canadian Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/personal-donation).
