Rose Forsyth

FORSYTH – Rose Mazs (nee Blashmie) It is with heavy hearts that we bid a tearful goodbye to a wonderful wife and life-long friend to husband David, loving mother to Marlene (Jerry), Norene, Glenn (Lynn) and Christine (Stewart), doting grandmother to Amanda (Jean Francois), Dawn (Ryan), Stuart (Alaina), Hillary (Kyle), Graeme, Craig (Darcie), Kyle (Gaby), Leanne (Kellen) and Eric (Olya) as well as a proud and loving great grandmother to Rosalie, Cameron, Caleigh, Riley, Olivia, Maryn and Camden. Also a proud and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews in Scotland, Canada and the United States of America. She is also pre-deceased by her sister Seana Morrison.

Born December 14th, 1932 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Rose gave up working in a factory and emigrated to Canada to be with her fiancé David on Christmas Day 1953 after he had found work in Dofasco and made enough money to send for her. They were wed on January 9th in 1954 in their new hometown of Hamilton. They began their new life temporarily living with David’s sister Betty and her husband Bill on Gibson Avenue, but soon saved enough money to put a down payment on their first home on the east mountain in 1959. Over the next 30 years they raised all four children in that home and remained in it for over 60 years. Rose held a job as a special needs school bus driver for a couple of years but was also Mom’s Taxi service for school trips and other adventures for decades. She enjoyed camping in Southampton, sewing, quilting and travelling. Rose was also a Past Matron in the Historic Order of the Eastern Star.

There will be a celebration of Rose’s life on Tuesday October 11th, 2022 at the Marquis Gardens, 1050 Rymal Road East, Hamilton from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
