Ronald Allan Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Allan Smith, who, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully at Carpenter Hospice on December 14, 2025, in his 80th year.

Born on July 12, 1946, Ron was the beloved son of the late Clarence and Mildred Smith. He is survived by his sister Lori (Ken) Fowler and was predeceased by his sister Terry (Jerry) Stark.

Ron was the devoted husband of Janis Smith, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. He was a proud and loving father to his son Daniel (Andrea) and daughter Hailey (Henry), and anadoring grandfather to Kara, Dylan, Koen, and Kolten. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Ron built a long and successful career in the finance industry, where he was known for his dedication, hard work, and integrity.

A devoted family man, Ron will be remembered for his quick wit, warm sense of humour, and ability to make people laugh. He was deeply involved in the Ancaster community, coaching hockey and baseball, where he formed many lifelong friendships that meant a great deal to him. He also shared a special bond with his dog, Oscar, who was a constant companion and brought him great comfort.

In keeping with Ron’s wishes, there will be no funeral or formal service. A small private gathering will be held with close family.In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron’s memory may be made to Carpenter Hospice.Ron will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
