Ronald James Hamilton September 15, 1948-May 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald James Hamilton, who died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 2, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born to the late Myrtle (Cartwright) and Harris Hamilton in Atikokan, Ontario, Ron is survived by the love of his life, Janet (Hunter) Hamilton who was always by his side, and his cherished children: Carrie (Kevin) Anderson, Jeff (Joanna) Cammisoli, and Jamie Cammisoli. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Justin, Miranda, Kyle, Jake (Jena), Joel (Emily), Jillian, Jordan (Annie), and Julia, and a great-grandfather to Jack, Jett, and Nino. He will be deeply missed by his brother Ken (Sheila) Hamilton and sister Ardyce (Steven) Warren, and fondly remembered as a brother-in-law to Jim (Marlene) Hunter, Don Hunter, and Alison (Tom) Hood. Ron is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Ron was a man known for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and the things he loved most--his work and the game of hockey. A respected figure in the automotive world, Ron built a successful career as a car businessman, earning the trust and admiration of colleagues and customers alike through his integrity and passion for helping others.
Beyond his business success, Ron was best known as a beloved and well-known hockey coach. Over the years, he mentored and inspired countless young athletes, leaving an indelible mark both on and off the ice. His commitment to teaching, guiding, and encouraging others was felt across generations and will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 163), 435 Limeridge Road East, Hamilton ON on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 6:00PM - 10:00PM where friends, family, former players, and all those whose lives he touched are welcome to gather in remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. Ron's legacy of kindness, leadership, friendship, and love will continue to live on in all of those who knew him. His spirit will be felt in every story shared, every lesson remembered, and every life he helped shape along the way.
