In Loving Memory of Richard ‘Rick’ Moise Levack (January 17, 1948 – March 31, 2026)

Player Stats

The Player: Richard ‘Rick’ Moise Levack—Husband, Provider, Adventure Seeker, Dad, Papa, Navy Veteran, Oil & Gas Leader & Mentor, and Clubhouse Legend.

The Team: Royal Canadian Navy (Joined Feb 15, 1965), Gulf/Petro-Canada/Suncor (40+ year career), Toronto Blue Jays (Faithful since '76), and Leader of the Levack Family (53 years!).

Jersey Number: 42 (The answer to life, the universe, and everything).

The Scouting Report: Richard didn’t just watch history; he signed up for it. At seventeen, the day Canada raised the Maple Leaf, he headed for the Atlantic. That open water stayed in his blood. Whether he was traveling the world or co-hosting a legendary family dinner with our Mom, he lived for the adventure. He was a man who worked hard, provided well, and enjoyed the flavour of life—relishing a great meal as much as a great play.

As a Dad and Papa, he was our resident commentator. He always took the time to explain the play-by-play and the overall rules of the game, ensuring we understood the "how" and the "why." But once the whistle blew, he stepped back; he gave us the knowledge we needed and then stood in the dugout, letting us play our own game.

The "Juravinski" MVP: He faced a scouting report that would have benched a lesser man: cancer, a failing heart, diabetes, and the loss of a limb. But Richard was the ultimate clubhouse leader. While others sat with heavy hearts in the treatment room, he’d look around with that signature look and say, “One of these things is not like the other.” He was right. He was the light in the dugout, the laugh in the face of the storm, and the man who refused to let "visible issues" define his game.

The Final Play: On Monday evening, Richard decided his 78th season was complete. He got to see the start of this historic 50th Blue Jays season, and then he executed the perfect "walk-off." He rounded third, bypassed the struggle, and headed straight for the plate.

The Verdict: The Umpire has made the call:

He’s Safe.

As he touched the plate,

the "Love of the Game" did exactly what it was meant to do. The whole team—all of Heaven—poured out of the dugout, lifted him onto their shoulders, and carried him the rest of the way.

Fair winds and following seas, Sailor. The answer was always 42.We’ll see you at the park. “And sometimes, the love of the game is enough to carry you home.”
