It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter on February 15, 2024 in this 89th year. Peter will be forever loved by his best friend, dance partner, and wife of 66 years, Beverley. Peter is dearly missed by Terri (Steve), Bill (Jackie), Corrine (Sandy), Marg, Cheryl, and Darlene. The best Papa to Jason (Meghan), Billy, Chris (Cherysh), Leanne (Kellen), Eric (Olya), Melanie (Mike), great grandchildren Saylor, Ziggy, Maddy, and Micaela. Peter will also be missed by siblings Maureen, Bill (Carol), Sharon, Jaimie, and many nieces and nephews. He is also pre-deceased by his brother Bob.
Peter was born in Toronto, Ontario to Peter and Bretta Lindsay and grew up in Windsor. Peter met the love of his life Beverley in 1955 and was wed on 1957. Peter and Beverley raised their family on the Hamilton Mountain where they have lived for over 60 years. Peter taught shop at Delta and Westdale High Schools until retiring in 1993. In retirement you could find Peter relaxing while having some tea, listening to CBC radio, having dessert (no matter the time of day), or cutting the grass in his wool socks. More likely though, you would find Peter doing one of his many hobbies; he was an expert woodworker and carver, amazing dancer, Trillium-award winning gardener, theatre connessieur, and member of the British Sports Car Club with his MGB Iris. Peter also loved to travel with his family, taking family trips to many parts of the country and abroad throughout his life. He also volunteered across the city including at the Warplane Heritage Museum, Westfield Heritage Village, and the HWDSB archives. Peter will be very missed by many.
There will be a celebration of Peter’s life at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, 9280 Airport Road, Mount Hope on April 6, 2024 from 1:30 – 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Parkinson Canada in Peter’s name.
