It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Orest (Ernie) Kowch on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026 in his 93rd year. His world revolved around his adoring wife Barbara (Ayres), their four children Karen (Tally) Tatti, Rob (Sue) Kowch, Kathy (Mike) Martin, Rick (Kim) Kowch, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Born in Hyas, Saskatchewan on November 11th, 1933, pre-deceased by his parents John and Mary, seven siblings and survived by his brother Nester (Evelyn) Kowch of Regina. Family was everything to him – always willing to lend a hand and give his time to all. Ernie had a successful 34 years with Canada Coach Lines, including 30 years of service driving the Hamilton Steel Hawks and Hamilton Bulldogs as “Bussy”. In retirement, he continued his love of “all things hockey” as a goal judge. Special thanks to the staff of 3 West Palliative Care at St. Peter’s Hospital and Dr. Kemp Hospice for their exceptional and compassionate care of Ernie, as well as their unwavering support for the family.
