Olivia Guitard
We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Olivia Guitard, beloved wife and mother, who left us on March 31st in Burlington, ON at age 81.
Olivia was born in Sydney Mines and raised in New Waterford, Nova Scotia. According to her younger sister, she was one of the prettiest girls in town. She was smart too, especially in math and science, which she parlayed into a meaningful career working as a Laboratory Technician at Amherst Regional Hospital for over 25 years.
She raised her two children in Amherst, N.S., and nurtured in them both a deep love of music - even in her later years Olivia stayed current with the latest hits and couldn't resist moving and singing along to a great song.
In 1985, she found a second chance at love when she married Walter. They had so many adventures together, cottaging in Port Elgin, New Brunswick and travelling overseas. When she retired, she and Walter split their time between Nobleton, Ontario and Plant City, Florida.Olivia was known for her love and devotion for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of hockey and baseball, even going to watch her beloved Blue Jays train in the off-season. There was no one more fun to play cards or belt out tunes with. She loved to laugh and was often "the life of the party."
She leaves behind her loving husband Walter Guitard, her son Bobby Mullins ( Lise), daughter Leigh Anne Van Moorlehem (Mullins), sister Gina Ross and grandchildren Quinn, Brady, Hayley, Brooke and Cadence. She will also be fondly remembered by nieces Wendy McDonald and Jenni Campbell, nephew Dale Kearney and many other friends and relatives. She was pre-deceased by sister Bernadette Kearney and brother, Joe Ross.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
