Mihkel Maidla

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mihkel (Mike) Maidla, also known as Bear to family and friends on November 1, 2025, at the age of 73.

He lived in Hamilton with his beloved wife, best friend and soul mate of 30 years, Anne Maidla. He will be dearly missed by his daughter Catherine (Mike), and stepdaughters Lisa (Brad) and Jenn (Jamie). Cherished grandfather (Grumpa) to Emily, Kerri, Sophie, Piper, and Eve.

Mike was a talented carpenter who took great pride in his work. He loved fishing from his boat and relaxing at his trailer on Balsam Lake, where he found peace and happiness in the outdoors.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Critical Care staff at Juravinski Hospital for their exceptional compassion and care, and to Don Piper for all his help and support in Mike’s final days.

As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of his life at a later date.
