Maynard Gilbey - August 20, 1941 – September 7, 2025

It is with appreciation for a life well lived we announce the sudden but peaceful passing at home of Maynard on Sunday, September 7, 2025.He will forever be missed by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Charlotte; his bonus children Sherry (Chris) Nevitt; Darren (Jody) Penney, grandsons Ryan (Jess), Jamie, Hatcher and Pearson. Great-grand children Bentley and Marlow. He will also be missed by much loved and respected brother David (Susan) and happy to be uncle to 5 nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his parents Margaret and Clarke who had instilled in their children the values of kindness, dedication and quiet strength that carry on today within his family. Maynard took great joy in the simple things in life, like bringing Charlotte her morning coffee and not talking to her until her hair was done. He loved nature, was an avid camper and enjoyed photography. He was blessed with a beautiful home and wonderful neighbors' was proud to have been a 3rd generation, 47 year employee of E.D. Smith and Sons, Winona. He began his career as a part-time employee in his youth and at 18 transitioned to full time where he held various positions over the years. He was also an active member of the E.D. Smith volunteer fire brigade. His dedication, work ethic and loyalty to the company were hallmarks of his character. As Maynard would say, smile and be kind to someone today.
