With love, in memory of Mary Anne “Nan” Tilley
June 3rd 1943 – Aug 1st, 2025
With great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Anne Tilley. Mary passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family at the age of 82.
Mary was born in Saint John’s, Newfoundland to her parents Michael Kelly and Eileen Wilcott. She is predeceased by her husband Michael Tilley (2009) and survived by her loving sons Edward and Diarmuid Tilley, and grandchildren Meghan, Samuel and Alexandra.
She grew up in Saint John’s, making countless memories and lifelong friends before moving to Ontario with her family. Mary found her passion for helping others and became a registered nurse before starting her career with Hamilton General and Saint Joseph’s Healthcare Psychiatric Hospital, where she proudly served for 30 years.
Mary was a constant bright spot on the world who made friends wherever she went. She was always looking for ways to connect with relatives both near and far. She loved to dance and to travel. She will be remembered for her tenacious attitude, her humour, the love she gave so freely, and her Jiggs’ dinners with pease pudding that raised generations of her family.
At Mary’s request, no formal service will be held. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.
Mary will be laid to rest at the Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Burlington, Ontario.
