Terry (Mark) Mitchell January 25, 1955 - August 6, 2023
Terry Mitchell, known to many as Mark, peacefully transitioned to the spirit world on August 6, 2023, at 11:24 pm, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and adored him. He has left a profound impact on the lives he touched.
Terry was a devoted husband and loving companion for 51 years to his beloved wife, Donna his little Teetle. Together they created a bond that stood the test of time, exemplifying the true essence of patience, love, humor and commitment. As a caring and loving father, he provided unwavering support and guidance to his only child, Melanie Butler, and her husband Martin. ( Dad I will forever miss your crazy 18 phone calls a day to tell me the weather, a crazy dad joke and mostly that you love me). Terry's role as a grandfather was a source of immense joy, as he adored his grandchildren: Andrew and Lindsay, Shawna and Mike, Skye and Joey, and Aaron. His love extended even further, as he embraced the role of great-grandfather to Taylor, Abigail, Kendall, James, Andrew Jr, and Arianna.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Frank Mitchell, as well as his siblings Elwood, Doug, Henry, Oliver Davey, Daniel Davey and Clare Mitchell and Terry's furbabies, Maxie and Layla.
Terry's warmth and kindness extended to his siblings, Elizabeth (William), Gilbert (Brenda), Alexander (Lynn), Donald (Gayle), and Shirley (Jack), as well as numerous nieces and nephews leaving an indelible mark on their lives. Terry's circle of friendship was wide, yet his bond with best friends Gary Stark and Donnie Macaulay was a testament to the deep connections he formed throughout his life.
An active member of the Hamilton Regional Indian Center, Terry's passion for community engagement was exemplified through his involvement in fire keeping at Sundance, pow wows, drumming circles, Indwell, and various community events that showcased his commitment to preserving traditions and fostering unity. Terry found solace in the outdoors, nurturing a special connection with all furry creatures that crossed his path, he loved singing and drumming, and the simple pleasure of an ice-cold beer. Terry's infectious hearty belly laugh and unique sense of humor will remain etched in the memories of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Terry's legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family and community will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered. We would like to thank his nurses Tiffany, Maggie and Susanna from the Juravinski ICU unit for their care and compassion. As per Terry's wishes there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life for the family will be announced at a later date. The family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Terry's memory to The Hamilton Regional Indian Center at 34 Ottawa Street North Hamilton, Ontario. Rest in peace dad, this isn't goodbye this is a see you later. We'll love you forever, love Teetle and Monk
