Maria Magdalena Buko-Buchanan

Maria M. Buko Buchanan, 77, died on March 15, 2025 in Hamilton, Ontario Canada.

Maria was born in Aremberg, Germany, resided in Tiffin, and Toledo, Ohio as well as Hamilton, Ontario.

Her parents, Steve and Maria Buko, spouse, Dr. George Dale Buchanan, and brother-in-law Ron B. LaWare pre-deceased her. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Misko (spouse Gary), Elizabeth Clara Buko-Kiesel (spouse John), and Margaret LaWare. Also, surviving her are her step children Richard Buchanan (spouse Dorothy) and Robin Michael (spouse David), Robin’s children, Kelly and Bradley Burlage, and Maria’s nephews Paul and Andrew (spouse Erica) Kiesel.

Owner of AB Medical Transcription Service, Maria also worked in the Graduate Affairs Office at McMaster University and taught medical terminology concepts at Mohawk College.

Maria loved Canadians and Canada, and had special affection for Lake Kamaniskeg, where she and the love of her life, Dr. George Dale Buchanan resided in a peaceful cottage and where they conducted research on the biology and ecology of bats and other wildlife in that beautiful place.

Memorial service will be at the discretion of the family.
