In Loving Memory of Margaret McLaughlin Robertson {nee Griffin}

August 13, 1924--August 19, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother/grandmother on August 19, just 6 days after celebrating her 101st birthday. She passed peacefully after suffering complications of a stroke, surrounded by her loving family and the exceptional caregivers who had supported her. It was clear to all that she was deeply cherished.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband of 38 years, James Robertson, who passed away in 1992. Together they raised five children: Linda {Frank Pezaniti}, Alan {deceased 2014}, Marg {Andy Colao}, John (Jana Jenkins), and Bruce (deceased 2023). She was a proud grandmother to Tony, Amanda (James), Chris (Natasha), Kereena (Mickey), Aaron ( Beth), James, Emma (deceased 2025) Sophia, Victoria and she was a loving great-grandmother to Kyle-Alan.

Born August 13, 1924, in Greenock, Scotland, Margaret was the daughter of Robert and Catherine Griffin. She was predeceased by her parents, and siblings: John (Anne), Mary (Archie), Nina (Henry).

In October of 1954 Margaret and James immigrated to Canada during Hurricane Hazel. Although they joked that they had found harsher weather than in Scotland, they built a happy life here while keeping close ties with family overseas. They loved traveling, enjoyed music, and maintained a wide circle of friends. Wasaga Beach remained a treasured family destination throughout the years.

In her later years, Margaret was blessed with the care and friendship of many. The compassionate staff at Linhaven Nursing Home in St. Catharines (Katie, Lauren, Robert (and many others) as well as Jarvis Leisure Living (Tyler and staff) showed extraordinary kindness to her, and their devotion was a comfort to our family. Margaret also shared a close bond with her roomate, Laura, and her daughter Chrystal and their family.

Margaret will be remembered as loving, kind, caring, and generous. She had a wonderful sense of humour that endeared her to everyone she met. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with family, friends, and her beloved dog, Gingerbell.

Cremation has taken Place. A private family funeral will be held, and a Celebration of Life will be held in September. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
