Luigi Peter
Ciavarella
February 4, 1940 – May 27, 2026
Scenic Woods Golf Course
1:00 - 4:00 pm (Eastern time)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Luigi “Louie” Ciavarella on
Tuesday, May 26, 2026 who died peacefully at Juravinski Hospital with family by his side.
He leaves behind his wife Catherine of 63 years, his two sons Mike (Kim) and Dan, his
three grandchildren Kourtney (Patrick), Michael, Caspian and his great grandson Mason.
He was the oldest of five children and will be sadly missed by his four siblings Angela,
Matteo, Anthony and Peter.
Louie immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1953 at the age of 13. Grounded in his Italian
heritage, he became a proud Canadian making a good life here for his family. Louie was
a self-taught auto mechanic, known for his hard work, endless storytelling, and being the
"go to" guy that could fix anything and a person that no matter where he went he knew
someone.
Family dinners were a staple at the house with home cooked meals, some good and not
so good homemade wine over the decades and of course the mandatory card games at
the end of each gathering which his grandchildren cherished.
Right up to his final days you could always find Louie in his garage working on
someone's vehicle or at Scenic Woods golf course volunteering as a ranger, fixing
something or getting a round in with his son, grandson or one of his many golfing
buddies. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire medical team and
staff at Juravinski Hospital and Clarissa (Louie's home care nurse) for their support and
compassionate care throughout his healthcare journey.
The family would like to invite friends to the join them at Scenic Woods Golf Course (185
Golf Club Rd, Hannon) for a celebration of life on June 7, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. In
lieu of flowers, please consider donating to HBSPCA or the Ronald McDonald House in
his memory.
"I love you more" a message from Dad, Grandpa and G-pa we will all forever carry in our
hearts. Finché non ci rivedremo.
