LORRAINE HERRIOT
OCTOBER 20, 1946 - MAY 18, 2024
After a season of some struggle, our beloved Lorraine Moore (previous Herriot), nee Makin, passed away on May 18th, 2024 in Hamilton , Ontario with her daughter Corey at bedside. Genuine, talkative, and known to be feisty on occasion, Lorraine was born in 1946 in Stalybridge, England. Lorraine had one-of-a-kind energy, salty humour, and a colourful conversation for everyone she met. She will be missed terribly by those who got to know her and bask in her beautiful smile.
Many wild, abandoned, and domestic animals have Lorraine to thank for saving them, loving them, and ensuring their peace and safety in her care. As a lover of books and drama, Lorraine was once a stage manager at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, and Agatha Christie’s biggest fan. As proud co-owner of John’s Antiques shop with her husband, she was respected as a savvy and fair negotiator. And as an office administrator at Western University, Lorraine was an organizational whiz who typed ninety words a minute (yes, that’s right - 90!). Most of all, she was a unique star on the stage of life to those in her life and community, and made a point to let you know how loved you are.
Lorraine was predeceased by her loving husband John Moore, her brother Peter, and her parents Ethel and Peter Makin. She is survived by her four children Tracey, Michael, Corey, and Garfield; her cherished grandchildren Ripley, Danna, Jennifer, Simon, and Dylan; great-grandchildren Allie, Abigail, Aubrey, Andrew, Raelynn, and Shaelynn; her siblings Michael and Susan; nephews Steven, Peter, and David, nieces Erin and Jessica; her closest friend Naomi, and her extended family.
We were moved by her legendary laugh, her sharp wit, her strength, and beauty.
