Nielsen, Lissi Vera

Lissi passed away peacefully on July 30th at the age of 94, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Nancy, Jimmy (Cindy), and Brenda (Rob); her grandchildren Christopher, Abbey (Hemal), Jessica (Matthew), and Matthew; and her sister Bitten, in Denmark. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Willy (2012), her parents Gerda and Erik Andersen, and her brother Tom (Carol).

Lissi loved her family and took great joy in spoiling her grandkids. She cherished her Danish heritage and delighted in sharing traditional recipes, which became treasured by many and form part of the legacy she leaves behind. Her home was known for its warm hospitality—coffee always brewed from freshly ground beans, and cakes and cookies lovingly baked from scratch. It quickly became a favorite gathering place for family, friends, and the neighborhood ladies “sewing” club.

Our family is deeply grateful to the staff at Idlewyld Manor for the exceptional care and kindness they provided over the past 13 years. Their compassion and love for our mother have meant the world to us.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Idlewyld Manor. In accordance with her wishes, a private service will be held at a later date. Let us never forget those who can’t remember.
