Linda passed away peacefully of dementia at St. Joseph’s Transitional Care at First Place, Hamilton. She was predeceased by her parents Dorothy Sand, William (Bud) Cleland and brother Bill. Linda was an esteemed and beloved child and youth worker at the former Mt. St. Joseph’s Centre, and Woodview Children’s Centre. She was a lifelong friend of Barbara Quaglia (Gabe), Sharon Kulpaka-Newman (John), Eleanor Beale, Marg Ludkin (Rick), Judy Church (late Bill), the late Pat Flatt, Janette Kok (Ed), Louise Grilli (Rocco), Kathy Caruk, Lori Collins and many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Auntie Linda was loved by Anastasia Newman (Adam Bryant), Alexandra Newman (Bryan Slack) and Sophia Blanc (Conor McKee) as well as the children and grandchildren of all her friends. Madeleine and Juliana Bryant will remember Auntie Linda playing card and board games, doing crafts, listening to music, and dancing. Linda was always there with sage advice for both parents and kids . Thank you for the extraordinary care that Linda received from the loving staff at First Place. They made it her home for over two years. The support of Drs. Terrence Creachman and Suzanne Turner made certain that Linda’s final journey was peaceful. Thank you to Affordable Burial and Cremation for looking after our Auntie Linda. Donations to the Alzheimer Society or St. Joseph’s Home Care would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Ye Olde Squire Restaurant, 500 Fennell Avenue East (in the Fenworth Plaza) from 1 to 4, with memories of Linda being shared at 2.
Linda, we miss you so much already.
