Lawrence Gordon Macdonald

September 21, 1955 — July 5, 2021

Lawrence “Larry” Gordon MacDonald September 21 1955 - July 05, 2021. Lawrence “Larry” Gordon MacDonald, was born September 21, 1955, in Hamilton, Ontario, to Ronald “Ronnie” and Dorothy “Dottie” (nee Cheverie) MacDonald. He was the fourth of seven kids, always grabbing the spotlight and the centre of attention since his first breath. If he didn’t have a hammer in hand, it was a guitar or a note book and pen creating music and lyrics. Through the years he was a wild child, but no different from his two older brothers. In the ‘80s, like his older brothers, he moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he worked construction and bars to support his music. He returned to Ontario a few years later to focus on his music, to his mother’s delight of course, she was his biggest fan; he also continued to work in home carpentry. Family was always important to Larry, you didn’t need to be blood. He carried on the family tradition, the door was always open, and a hot cup of coffee or tea always waiting. Larry sang his song and strummed his guitar to the heavens above today, July 05, 2021, to join his father, Ronnie, his mother, Dottie, his brothers, Lee and Glenn, and his sister, Shirley. He now sings his songs from above to those of us below, his partner, Seng, his sisters, Sharon (Kevin), Sheila (Barry), and brother, Garry (Linda). His nieces and nephews, Lisa, Sahra (Scott), Shane (Lindy), and Kyle (Meghan). And his great-niece, Laughlin Riley Ann. He also sings from above to his aunt, many, many cousins, adopted nieces and nephews, and an outstanding number of friends, from the east coast to the west coast. As some would adopt animals, Larry adopted people. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be had when restrictions are lifted. As a carpenter, Larry was apart of the build for The Carpenter Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please visit https://www.thecarpenterhospice.com/support-us/make-a-donation/ for more information.
