John Richard Nyland

The Nyland family is deeply saddened to share that John Richard Nyland, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2025. Born in Hamilton, John lived life on his own terms.

Cherished father to John and Jessica, devoted grandfather to Liam and loving uncle to Erik. A retired firefighter, motorcycle enthusiast and avid guitar player, Big John could be found many days in his beloved "voodoo lounge" surrounded by family, friends or neighbours, or all at the same time laughing and sharing wisdom with those he loved.

Cremation has taken place. At the family's request there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of life will be planned in the coming months. If desired, expressions of sympathy can be made to a local charity of your choice.
