It is with broken hearts and great sadness we announce that John Gary Cooper passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at St. Peter’s hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.

John was a life long Hamiltonian, drove Big Rigs, loved music and was a fan of The Montreal Canadiens, Hamilton Tiger Cats and Toronto Blue Jays.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary, daughters Leigh-Ann Cholette (Dave), Sherry Ritchie, Debbie Coutu (Frank) and son Darcy Cooper (Pam)

Grandchildren Joshua, Marcus, Lauryn, Simeon, Avery, Ashley, Corrie, Darnell, Samantha, Elijah and Jahval

Great Grandchildren Kyah, Xavier, Amara, Ava, Preston

Nephew Bob Cooper (Lee), Nieces Bonnie Thomas, Tina McMillan and Lisa Haas (Rob) and many friends.

Predeceased by his parents John and Eleanor (Powers) Cooper and brother Walter “Bud” Cooper.

We would like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s for all that they did for John while he was in their care. They treated him with great dignity, kindness and sincerity.

As to John’s wishes cremation has taken place with no burial.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society Hamilton or the Kidney Foundation of Canada is appreciated.
