Joan Marlene Jeanette Doret
January 17, 1955 — July 22, 2022
Doret, Joan (Marlene Jeanette) 1955-2022 passed away suddenly at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton, Ontario on Friday July 22nd. Joan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was called to a better place at the young age of 67.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Corradino Doret, her two children Jeanine and Patrick, her grandchildren Aidan and Andrew, her brothers Allen and Earl and her sister Rita.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and June Burns of Toronto and her brothers Terry and Lee of the GTA.
Her battle with cancer in recent years demonstrated her courage and determination in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Joan came out a hero and stayed strong until the very end.
Joan loved spending time in the kitchen, selling her crafts at numerous nursing homes, gardening, visiting her grandchildren Aidan and Andrew, going to Florida on vacation, playing cards, Take Two and BINGO, taking daily walks to reach her 10,000 steps and talking to her daughter Jeanine and her son Patrick as they drove home from work. Her iPad was her third arm; she often played Wordament and spent hours browsing the World Wide Web and spent time Skyping with family and friends.
One of her pet peeves was the cackle and honking of the Canada Geese in our housing development!! Also, she didn’t fully appreciate the colourful wardrobe (often fluorescent) that her husband cherished.
She was my wife, my best friend and confidant. I will miss her more than words can say. I love you, rest in peace dear wife.
Thank you to the VON nurses who cared for Joan especially, Carly and Victor. Special thanks to Dr Shaw and Dr McWhirter for their assistance in providing relief from the pain Joan was experiencing due to the cancer.
At her request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, make a charitable donation to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice at
