Wikis, Jason Robert On Saturday June 27th, 2020, Jason Wikis, son, brother, uncle, friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 48 years. Jason will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Lynn Waldick (nee Williamson), father Thomas Wikis (Denise), sister Mandi (Ron) and niece & nephew, Lucy & Sammy. Jason will be forever remembered by his many, many friends, colleagues and community members, especially his best friend, Father Peter Jurzyk of St. Lawrence Parish. Jason was born on April 30th, 1972 in Hamilton, ON and grew up in the North End of the city. He loved basketball, music, reading, but mostly Jason loved his community and friends. He referred to him as "The gentle giant", " a stellar gentleman" and a kind and warm friend. He always made time for his friends, and to help others where he could. Jason was larger than life, and lit up a room; people were always drawn to his charismatic personality, laughter, humour and compassionate spirit. He attended St. Lawrence Elementary, Cathedral High School and just completed his first year of prerequisites at St. Augustine's Seminary School in Toronto. The day preceding his passing, Jason's family was notified of his acceptance into the Pallottine Priests congregation in Poland, Brother Friar Jason. Becoming a priest was a lifelong dream since his days as an altar boy at St.Lawrence. He was a devout Catholic, had very strong faith and made every attempt to live accordingly. Jason worked for the Knights of Columbus State Office where he was a third degree knight and through his work there, he helped many people and made meaningful connections and friendships. Jason's family are overwhelmed by the number of lives he impacted. Jason's family would like to say a special Thank you to all the members of St. Lawrence Parish and the Knights of Columbus for their unbelievable assistance and support during this very difficult time. Especially to Father Peter Jurzyk, Anna Kocmarek, Patrick Sullivan, Denis LaSalle and our close family, friends, and neighbours we could have done this without you. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Hamilton General Hospital, ICU east. To Mohawk College for dedicating your 5K Walk for Stroke/ABI to Jason (5K for Jay), The outpouring of support has been a comfort and has given the family such a sense of pride for Jason, that he was so well loved and respected. It has also become evident that there are so many people who wish to pay their respect to him, his family and celebrate him, that any service under the current pandemic restrictions would not be representing of who Jason was. At family's discretion, a Mass and Celebration of Life will take place at St. Lawrence Parish and Hall, once restrictions have been lifted. Please connect to Facebook page and/or Group "Jason" , administered by his sister, Mandi for future dates and times. Family is also asking, if friends and loved ones wish to honour Jason, to make a donation to St. Lawrence Parish in his memory. Jason's family would like sincerely Thank everyone for showing them how successful he truly was in his life!
