Janice Marie Grove

December 14, 1947 – May 12, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Marie Grove, at the age of 78. 

Predeceased by her parents, Mr. Frederick and Mrs. Violet Grove, and by her sister, Myrna (Grove) Deverson. 

Lovingly remembered by her nieces Karen Deverson, Krista Deverson, Katie Deverson, and Kayla Deverson McLeod.

 Great‑nieces and great‑nephew Keira, Charlotte, Josephine, Henry, Whitney, Sloane, and June. 

Janice was born at Henderson Hospital in Hamilton. She attended Westdale Secondary School and lived on Royal Avenue for most of her life. She worked in a local pediatric clinic for many years.

 Janice had fond memories of childhood Christmas dinners with her cousins and summers spent at the family cottages on Lake Erie. She often spoke with pride about her Dad being a train engineer for the TH&B. She was a lover of languages and was proud of her proficiency in French, German, and Spanish. She played the piano beautifully and could sew Halloween costumes and other garments with ease. 

She was an avid reader who faithfully read The Bible from cover to cover every year. She attended the Christian Science church as a child and later enjoyed the fellowship of her community church. She delighted in celebrating annual holidays - especially St. Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day - with decorations galore.

 Janice had a lifelong love of animals, with a special affection for dogs, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Her caring spirit and lifelong affection for animals will remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
