It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Iris Hanc (nee Barlow), who left this world peacefully in her 94th year on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born in Hamilton in 1930, Iris was known for her incredible work ethic. Among her many passions was a love of music and dancing. Iris would light up any room with her moves and energy. She found joy in the simplest of moments and looked forward to Sunday drives, where she had a captivating way of recounting tales from her past. Family was paramount to Iris, and she took great pride in being a devoted parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent. Her presence brought comfort and joy to family gatherings, where she would cook traditional family recipes, share stories of the past and entertain us with her sharp sense of humour. In her later years, Iris embraced each day with gratitude.

Iris is reunited in eternal rest with her husband, Martin, and is survived by her loving family, Patricia (the late Walter Renzella), Michele (Gary Fordham), Lori and Marty (Nancy). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Paul (Shawna), Laura (Chris), Eric (Katie), Tyler and great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Iris’ wishes, a private cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society in her honour.
