Ignacij (George) Bizjak

December 15, 1933 - February 3, 2024

"It is we great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father in law and grand father George.

Reunited after 6 months, with the love of his life, Rena (nee Burke). Predeceased by his mother, father, and two sisters in his home town of Kranj, Slovenia. George came to Canada in 1967 and became a Toronto Maple Leaf fan, while they won the Stanley Cup.

George stepped into a father and grand father role quite naturally. Predeceased by Susan Kohut, Cindy Noble and Michael Burke. Cherished by daughter in law Patricia Burke. Grand father to Lisa, Dawn (Michael), Sherry (Brandon), Chantal (Dave), Paige (Jim). And a wonderful great grand father to nine great grand children. George kept in touch with sister in law Nancy and all extended family from New Brunswick, who meant so much to him. He cherished the memories and bond Rena provided them both.

George was a man of jokes and having fun. Tying shoelaces together, hiding car keys and purses. Driving on the occasional side walk, and slipping money to us all. He was loving and loyal always taking care of those in need.

Although we are saddened by his loss- our hearts are full that he is finally back with his beautiful “foxy” again.

Forever in our hearts.

Cremation has taken place, and a small family service will be had at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA to honour George’s love for his cats. "
