Helen Wardley (née Carpick)
1929-2026
Peacefully at Hamilton General on 23 June 2026 with family by her side.
Sadly, missed by daughters Karen Gray and Connie Vanderbaaren (John)and son Scott Wardley (Rita). Loving grandmother to Jennifer Devine(Kevin Belsey), Carolyn Safranyos(Paul), Madison Gray(Dominique Bonin), Laurel Gray Jérémie Gauvin) and Ceci, Chloe, Zachary and Lacey Wardley. Great-grandmother to Nicholas and Benjamin Safranyos, Declan Belsey, Isabelle and William Gray and Rémi and Brielle Gauvin. Step-grandmother to Thomas and William Vanderbaaren.
Survived by sister-in-law Eva Carpick. Predeceased by husband Graham, parents Conrad and Ann Carpick, brothers Lawrence, Phillip, Tod, William, Jack and Victor Carpick, sisters Irene Vanburen and Elizabeth Carpick and sons-in-law Christopher Devine and William Gray.
Helen was born in 1929 and raised in The Pas, Manitoba where she also trained to be a nurse and met her husband, Graham. Although Graham’s work initially took them across Canada, they finally settled in Burlington, Ontario and were long-time residents of Oak Crescent. Helen loved her work at Joseph Brant Hospital and never lost interest in medical developments. In her retirement years she enjoyed family gatherings, garage sale finds, Blue Jay games, good food, interesting books and discussions with her friends at Amica Stoney Creek.
A private family service will be held with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
