SOMERVILLE, Hazel Marie (Nee Chiasson)
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 12, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital
(Hamilton, ON) in her 85th year. Lovingly remembered by her son, Shawn (Donna)
Somerville and loving nana to Andrew Hayes and Julia Hayes. She will be dearly
missed by her siblings, William “Bill” (Albina “Binka”) Chiasson, Margaret
“Peggy” (the late Leonard) MacNeil, Ann (Paul) Humphrey, Ron “Ronnie”
(Marilyn) Chiasson and Joan “Joannie” (the late James “Jim”) Skinner as well as
many nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces.
Predeceased by her parents, Philip “Arthur” and Gertrude “Gertie” Chiasson (Nee
Duffy), her loving husband, Stanley “Stan” A. Somerville and son, Stanley G.
Somerville and siblings, Rita “Philomena, Mema” (Thomas “Tommy”) Higgins,
John (Mary “Verna”) Chiasson, Theresa Chiasson, Arthur “Bubba” Chiasson
(Partner, Catherine “Cathy” Duncan) and Alexander “Alex” Chiasson (surviving
former wife, Victoria “Vicky” Chiasson), Mary (Donald) Fraser, Joyce “Joy” (surviving husband) Robert "Rob"
Baldry.
The family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at St.
Peter’s Hospital, 3 East Wing and West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. As well as
everyone involved at Community Care, PSW’s from Care Partners and ParaMed. A
special thank you to her family physician, Dr. Michael Savatteri.
Per her request, Cremation has already taken place, arranged by Affordable
Burial and Cremation. A celebration of life and inurnment will take place at a
later date.
