Harold Angus Coon

March 20, 1932 — November 17, 2024

Coon, Harold A.

With great sadness, we announce that Harold passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 92. He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Georgalene (Dennis). Harold is going to be profoundly missed by his three children, Robert (Patricia), Cathy (Gary), and Carrie (Paul). His love, quick wit, and resounding laugh will be missed by his grandchildren, Valerie (David), Michelle (Anal), Nic (Kat), Tyler, Stephanie, Mathew (Mackenzie), Mackenzie (Kevin), James, and Julia. He leaves behind adorable great-grandchildren Chloe, Chase, and Cash.

Harold grew up with two younger brothers, Bill (predeceased) and Paul (Sue). He loved to tell stories about their life growing up, especially once they settled in Caledonia ON, where their father Harold was Mayor and pharmacist and his mother Margaret was active in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Harold loved sports as a teenager, and this continued throughout his life with a special fondness for golf. He loved supporting his children and grandchildren in any events and hobbies that they loved. Gramma and Grampa would attend as many events and activities as they could! There were years when he would pack snacks for everyone and hunt for Ninja Turtles at the local ravine, then hop in his car and drive to another grandchild’s event.

Harold retired as a Toronto Police Services Staff Sergeant. He was proud to serve his city for 26 years. When he retired, he had a second full career teaching Police Foundations at Fanshawe College.

In addition to all the lovely memories we have of Harold, he will be missed for his ability to have a conversation about almost anything. He had a tremendous memory and a love of reading. He enjoyed crime novels and anything about history and geography. He loved poetry, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku. Very few would be victorious against him in cribbage. We are really going to miss him.

Harold’s wishes include cremation and a private scattering of his ashes in one of his favorite places.<3
