Gunter Kubisch

In loving memory of our Father/Opa, Gunter Otto Hermann Kubisch, who passed away

peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 18, 2024.

Gunter was born on July 28,1936 in Berlin, Germany. He came to Canada when he was

seventeen years old. He was a beloved father to Marianne (Grant), Jeffrey (Genevieve) and

Monica (Rob).  He was a very proud Opa to Erica (Daniel), Brooke, Julia, Jakob, Celina, Ariana,

Luca and Bianca. He also is survived by his loving sister Gisela (Manfred) and his nieces in

Germany.

Gunter was a skilled Millwright by trade, possessing a remarkable talent for building and

renovating.

He found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, with a fishing rod in hand, casting his

line into the tranquil waters of Georgian Bay, where he felt most at peace.

Aside from his love of fishing, Gunter had a knack for technology, whether he was sending his

kids grocery lists via email, purchasing his OLG tickets online or connecting with loved ones on

Facebook, he embraced the digital age with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Music was another passion that brought light to Gunter’s life.  From the soothing melodies of

classical compositions to the lively beats of his favourite tunes, he found joy in all music.

But perhaps most cherished were the moments spent with his friends, gathered around a table,

engaged in spirited games of euchre or cribbage.

Gunter’s legacy of love, laughter, and passion for life will forever live on in the hearts of those

who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a

beacon of light in our lives.

A special thank you to all the compassionate staff at Macassa Lodge, particularly those on floor

E2. Their unwavering care and dedication in looking after our father gave us comfort and for that

we are deeply grateful.

As per Gunter’s wishes, there we will have a celebration of life to be held on his 88th birthday,

where family and friends can gather to honour and remember the extraordinary man he was.
