It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Filomena Rosario Landry, on April 13, 2026, at the age of 54. Filomena was born on May 5, 1971, in Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1974 with her family. She made her home in Hamilton, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Filomena was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, David Landry. She was a proud and caring mother to Ashley (Meghan) and Joshua (Jennifer), and a deeply cherished grandmother to Everleigh and Haven. Becoming a grandmother in 2024 brought her immense joy, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren—especially her newest granddaughter Haven, born just six weeks ago. She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Eduardo and Maria; her siblings Eddy (Tania) and Rose (Tony); her brother-in-law Rick (Pam) and her late brother-in-law Rob; her many nieces and nephews—Ryan, Samantha, Noah, Tony, Cassandra, and Alicia; as well as Sonia and her beloved extended family members.
Filomena was a woman who loved her family with her whole heart. To know her was to love her, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Filomena showed incredible strength and courage in her battle with a rare form of bone cancer. She underwent a total shoulder replacement in 2025 and faced chemotherapy with determination and resilience. After a period of remission, she continued to fight bravely when her illness returned. She was, without question, a true fighter.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her oncologist, Dr. Coschi, the staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre—whom Filomena absolutely adored—and the compassionate ICU team at Juravinski for their exceptional care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 2, 2026 at St. Nicholas Banquet Hall (260 Melvin Ave, Hamilton L8H 2K2) from 1pm-5pm.
