With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dulcie James, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Born in St. John's, Antigua, Dulcie moved to Canada over 50 years ago, beginning her new life in Montreal, where she met her husband, Maurice James. Together, they later moved to Hamilton, where they started their family and built a life filled with love and lasting friendships. Maurice predeceased her in January, and she now joins him in eternal rest.
Dulcie was the cherished mother of Ricky James (and his wife Christine, née Karman), Sharon Lauzon (née James, and her husband Chandler) and a devoted grandmother to Cordell, Jaydin, Jazmine, and Maryse, and great-grandmother to little Charlotte. She leaves her family and loved ones with memories that will last a lifetime.
She is survived by her three loving brothers, Arnold Mack, Ted Mack, and Foster Mack, who, like all who knew her, will forever remember her bright smile and infectious laughter that could light up any room. Her love of gardening was as vibrant as her spirit, and she spent countless joyful hours with her grandchildren, teaching them about plants, flowers, and the simple pleasures of life.
Dulcie worked for the Ontario Government for over 40 years, a career marked by her dedication and integrity. She was a beacon of strength, compassion, and wisdom for her family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Dulcie’s kindness and joyous spirit will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, in the beauty of her garden, and in every smile that remembers her warmth.
A celebration of life for Dulcie will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at Church of the Resurrection, 435 Mohawk Rd W, Hamilton, ON L9C 1X1.
