February 9, 1954 – March 27, 2024


Peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends on March 27, 2024, Debbie passed away with the comfort of Dr. Richard Scott (MAID) to assist in her wish of no longer suffering of being in pain anymore after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

She will be reunited with her mum Doris, and father Harold (Schatz), many aunts and uncles and her cousin, partner in crime, Brenda (Whittaker).


She will be deeply missed by her husband of 47 years, Albert Nelson, her children Corey Nelson, Brad Nelson, Ashley (Mark) Fitzgerald, adopted daughters Holly (Paul) Miller, April Savage, Leah Hayes, Ellen Packham, and adopted son Patrick Brown. Mama will be missed by her incredible grandchildren she cherished so much, Tyla, Preston, Emmet, Molly, Chase, Summer, and Hank.

She will never be forgotten by her uncle Jimmy (Barb) Lawton, aunt Bunny (Moore), sister Myra (Don) Friday, brother Mike (Alison) Schatz, sister-in-laws, June Berwick, Doreen Cookson, Lillian Hazel, Brenda (Jimmy) O’Keefe and her many nephews and nieces in Canada and UK.


Deeply missed by her best-friend Glenda (Ken) Mason who has always been there for Debbie and her family, through the good times and bad times, and amazing friends Jane Gratto and Rachel Beaulac.

A special thank you to her niece, Janinne (Cayuga) for being there and for all your support, and Dr. Puthuparampil for your kindness and care.


Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dying with Dignity Canada.
