David Eng Chan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Eng Chan, who died peacefully on November 20, 2024, at Brantford General Hospital at the age of 40. Born on July 13, 1984, in Hamilton, Ontario, David was a beloved son, brother, and grandson. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Donna Chan; his sister, Laura Chan (Andrew Lindstead); his grandmother, Faye Cright; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. David was predeceased by his father, Robert Chan.

David was a passionate and creative individual with many interests and talents. A graduate of George Brown College's Pastry Arts program, he had a keen interest in the culinary arts. Throughout his life, David dedicated himself to assisting in caring for his mother and grandmother, demonstrating incredible love, devotion, and selflessness to those he held dear.

David was known for his outgoing personality and his ability to make friends. His kindness, humour, and infectious energy drew people in, and he formed lasting connections with individuals from around the world. Whether through his love of computer and tabletop gaming, 3D printing, or his enthusiastic support of the Toronto Blue Jays, David's interests were vast, and he was always eager to share them with others. He was also an adventurous foodie, always excited to try new dishes, and his love for music spanned many genres, reflecting his open-minded and curious nature.

A celebration of David's life will be held in the spring of 2025. Details will be shared closer to the date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David's memory to Diabetes Canada.

David will be remembered for his warmth, his creativity, and his deep love for his family and friends. His spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
