Craig Joseph
Droughan
Jul 5, 1957 — Sep 29, 2026
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Craig Joseph Droughan, age 69, on September 29th, 2026 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.
To some, Craig was a friend, a brother, a coworker, the guy you could always count on for a laugh, or the man sitting in his Happy Hour Corner with a cold beer in hand. But to his children, he was simply Dad — and losing him leaves a space that can never truly be filled.
Craig was one of a kind. He was funny, charismatic, caring, and full of personality. He had a way of making people laugh, often without even trying, and he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into memories. He could tell a story, share a joke, enjoy a beer, cheer on his beloved Montreal Canadiens, and somehow make you feel like you were exactly where you were supposed to be.
He was a man who loved the simple things in life — good company, good conversation, hockey, photography, and spending time with the people he cared about. His Happy Hour Corner became more than just a place; it was part of who Craig was. It was where stories were told, laughs were shared, and memories were made.
Craig dedicated 40 years of his life to Dofasco, a testament to his determination, work ethic, and commitment. Along the way, he made friendships and became part of the lives of many people who will remember him fondly.
But above everything else, Craig was a father.
His children will carry their dad with them in all the little things — the stories they tell, the jokes they remember, the things that remind them of him when they least expect it. They will miss his voice, his laugh, his advice, his stubbornness, his humour, and all the little pieces of him that made him Dad.
Craig was also a beloved brother to Kevin (Linda) and Kelly (Eileen) Droughan, and the son of late Joe and Elizabeth Droughan. He leaves behind family and friends who will each carry their own stories, memories, and pieces of him forward.
He may no longer be here to share a beer, watch a Canadiens game, take a photograph, or sit in his favourite corner during happy hour, but the memories he created will remain.
And knowing Craig, he probably wouldn't want everyone sitting around being too sad for too long anyway.
So raise a glass for him.
Tell a good story.
Laugh a little too loudly.
Put on the Canadiens game.
And when you're thinking about him, remember the man who could make people laugh, who cared deeply, who loved his children, and who left his own unmistakable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Until we meet again, Dad.You will always be loved. You will always be missed. And you will never be forgotten.
“30 seconds there, 3 hours home.”
