Carolyn (Caroly) Lois Landry

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the death of our beloved Caroly, who passed away peacefully at Hamilton General hospital on the 26th of October, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Caroly was born to Keith John Roy Wightman and Florence Lois Hawke in Toronto, Ontario on the 26th of November, 1943. She was married to John Holt, and was later married to Louis James Landry (son Ryan)from 1983 to 2002. She was adored by her family, her loving daughters Emily Varga and Susan Juss (Marcel), and her grandchildren Arabella and Luke Varga. She leaves her siblings, Pam and Peter (Anne),and her nephew Alex Henes (Kristi).

Caroly was a great lover of English literature, having taken her B.A. and M.A. in English literature at the University of Toronto, and she later obtained her PhD in English literature from Manchester University. After serving as a tenured professor of medieval drama at York University in Toronto, Caroly became a Scientology Minister on 16 Aug, 1977. From then on, she pursued her dream of making the world a better place for all through her ministry. She was well known for her devotion to helping others, for her love of flora, and her wise counsel. She lived as though never having met a stranger and touched the lives of many. Though she has moved on, she left the world a brighter, happier place for having known her grace and kindness.
